If a body of mass m is released from the top of a smooth inclined plane of height h, it gains speed at the bottom given by

 
V2 - 02= 2gh or 
Kinetic energy acquired by the body at the bottom of inclined plane is
 
Clearly the work done by the gravitational force does not depend on the angle of inclination or path of the falling body. It depends on the initial and final position of the body. This proves that gravitational force is a conservative force.
