Figure shows the different forces acting in the system.
Weight in the pan = 8 × 9.8 = 78.4 N balances the tension force T acting in the string.
Tension force acting at point B is resolved into two components, one component in horizontal direction as ( T cos30 )
and other component in vertical direction as ( T sin30 ).
If weight of the bar W = 20×9.8 = 196 N , then this force hase to be balanced by the forces
acting on point A and B in vertical direction for static equilibrium .
Hence force acting at A in vertical direction = ( 196 - T sin30) N
Similarly Horizontal force Tcos30 atcing at point B is balanced by Horizontal force acting on opposite direction at A .
from the forces actong on pan, we get Tension force T = 78.4 N .
Force acting at A in vertical direction = ( 196 - T sin30) = ( 196 - 78.4 × 0.5 ) = 156.8 N
Force acting at A in horizontal direction = T cos30 = 78.4 × 0.866 = 67.9 N
Resultant force acting at A = [ (156.8)2 + (67.9)2 ]1/2 ≈ 171 N
Angle made by resultant with horizontal = tan-1 (156.8/39.2) = 76o
