Let us use the equation of motion " v2 = u2 + 2 aS " , where v is final velocity , u is initial velocity ,
a is acceleration and S is distance travelled

when stone is rached heighst distance h above ground, its final speed is zero.

acceleration a = - g = -10 m/s2 , where g is acceleration due to gravity

initial spee u = 10 m/s

hence h = u2 / (2g ) = ( 10 × 10 ) / ( 2 × 10) = 5 m
