a proton moving with a constant velocity passes through a certain region of space without any change in its velocity .if E and B represent electric and magnetic fields respectively, this region may have a)E=0,B=0 b)E=O,B NOT 0 c)E NOT 0,B=0 d)E ,B NOT 0

Expert Answer:

(a) E = 0, B = 0
While electric field accelerates the charged particle or proton in this case, magnetic field changes it's direction, and since the velocity is unchanged, i.e. proton doesn't accelerate or change in it's direction of motion, E = 0 and B = 0
