A cubodial block of side 7cm is surmounted by a hemisphere. What is the largest diameter that the hemisphere can have? Also find the surface area of the solid.

From the figure greatesr possible diameter for such hemeisphere is equal to cube's edge is 7 cm
Radius of hemispherical part = r = 7/2 = 3.5 cm
Total surface area of solid = Surface area of cubical part + Curved surface area of hemispherical part - area of base of hemispherical part
= 6 × 72 + 2∏r2 - ∏r2
= 6 × 72 + ∏r2
Solving it we get
= 332.5 cm2
