A cistern is filled by pipe in 12 hours and the full cistern can be leaked out by an exhaust pipe in 16 hours. If both the pipes are opened, in what time the cistern is full?

A cistern is filled by pipe in 12 hours.
Hence, Work done by the inlet in 1 hour =
A cistern is leaked out in 16 hours.
Work done by the outlet in 1 hour =
Net part filled in 1 hour =
Thus, the cistern will be full in 48 hours.
