To form a 5-digit number, let's fix 5 places.
The right most digit i.e. the digit at 1's place must be even since the number formed must be even.
So, there are 3 choices (2, 4 or 8) for the right most digit.
For the digit at ten's place, we left with 4 choices since the repetition is not allowed.
For the digit at hundred's place, we left with 3 choices.
For the digit at thousand's place, we left with 2 choices.
For the digit at ten thousand's place, we left with 1 choice.
Total number of ways of forming a 5-digit number with given numbers when the digits are not repeated
= 3 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1
= 72
