See the marked points X and Y in the given circuit that was shown left side of the figure.
The given circuit is redrawn in right side figure to show that all the three resistances are connected in parallel.
Marked points X and Y will help to realize the circuit redrawn.
If Req is the equivalent resistance of the resistors combination,
then (1/Req) = (1/R) + (1/2R) +(1/3R) = (6R2 + 3R2 + 2R2 )/ (6R3) or Req = (6/11)R Ω
if 2A is current in the circuit, then 2 [ (5/11) + (6/11) ]R = 12 V or R = 6 Ω
