answered-by-expert Expert Answer
2 x2 +13 xy - 24y2

2 × (-24 ) = -48

we have to find two numbers so that their product is -48 and sum is 13

16 × ( -3) = -48

16 - 3 = 13

Hence

2 x2 +13 xy - 24y2

= 2x2+ 16 xy -3 xy - 24y2

= 2x (x + 8 y) - 3y ( x + 8y )

= ( x + 8y ) ( 2x - 3y)
