18 cells each of internal resistance 1 ohm and emf 2 V each are used to send current through an external circuit of 2 ohm resistance. Find the best mode of grouping them.

Total number of cells = m n = 18   (1)

For maximum current in mixed grouping = begin mathsize 12px style nr over straight m space equals space straight R end style
 
 
Hence, for maximum current, there should be three rows in parallel each containing 6 cells in series.
