Expert Answer
We are able to see the beam of light when milk is added to the water due to scattering of light.
The water molecules are uniform. When a beam of light is incident on water, the beam of light is not visible from the side. But when milk is added to the water, we are actually adding many tiny particles to the water. The tiny particles of proteins and fats present in the milk get suspended in water. These particles scatter light, due to which the beam of light is visible from the side. Hence we are able to see the beam of light clearly.
