According to me, Balban was the most capable ruler of the Mamluk dynasty. It is because he strengthened the empire. He took various measures to protect his kingdom from Mongols. Balban in order to strengthen the defenses of the empire built new forts at the strategic locations and repaired the old ones. He also appointed his own sons as the governors of the frontier provinces. He reorganized his armies and strengthened the infantry and cavalry wings of his army.
