Expert Answer
Ovum is produced by meiosis. Ovum is a gamete so it should consist of half set of chromosomes (n). Hence to restore the normal set of chromosomes (2n) after fertilization, it undergoes meiosis.
On the other hand, muscle is a somatic cell so it undergoes mitosis while nerve cell once formed does not divide or gets replaced once dead.
