Following were the aims and objectives of the League of Nations:

  1. Prohibition on secret treaties or alliances between states.
  2. Discouraging member states from maintaining large armies, warships and destructive weapons.
  3. Respect among the states for each other’s independence and sovereignty.
  4. Referral of disputes by the member states to the League of Nations and peaceful settlements of the same.
  5. Corrective action by League of Nations members states against any single state or a group of states disturbing world peace and order.
  6. Promotion of cultural, social and economic cooperation among the member states.
