The coordination number of a metal ion in a complex can be defined as the number of ligand donor atoms to which the central metal is directly bonded.

en is ethylene diammine ligand which is a bidentage ligand i.e. ethane-1,2-diamine i.e. each ethylene diammine coordinates through its two N atoms to Co. Below mentioned is the image how Co is coordinated with en ligand.
