Aestivation is the mode of arrangement of sepals or petals in a floral bud with respect to the other members of the same whorl.

Valvate Aestivation

Twisted Aestivation

1. Sepal or petals in a whorl just touch one another. They do not overlap.

1. One margin of the floral appendage overlaps the margin of the next appendage.

2. Example: Calotropis

2. Example: China rose
