Factors Necessary for the Development of Hydro-electric Power in India
- Uniform and adequate supply of water to enable a hydro-electric plant to work at full capacity.
- The presence of lakes, which act as natural regulators, is of great help in maintaining regular and constant flow of water.
- Topography: Rapids and falls in mountain regions usually offer very good sites for hydel-power generation.
- Cheap Raw Materials: Availability of cheap raw material like iron ad cement and cheap labour for the construction of hydel-power stations is necessary.
- There should be adequate demand of electric power.
- Need a huge capital as Modern large-scale hydro-projects are expensive
