Troposphere is the densest layer of the atmosphere that is composed of water vapour, dust particles and many other impurities. Due to its thickness, troposphere absorbs most of the heat radiated by the Earth's surface, thereby, maintaining the temperature of the surface. Thus, troposphere protects the Earth's surface from the extreme of temperatures. This layer is characterised with several weather phenomena like cloud formations and thunderstorms.
