where dQ is heat energy conducted in dt seconds through the ice of thickness y and Area A.
 
Thermal conductivity of ice is considered as k.
 
If ice is formed in a layer of thickness dy due to heat loss dQ, then dQ = m×L = A×dy×ρ×L ............................(2) 
 
where m is mass, L is latent heat and ρ is density of  ice
