The length of a hall is twice it's height and breadth and height are in the ratio 4:3. If the volume of the hall is 576 cu.m find it's dimensions.

Let l is length, b is breadth and h is height of the hall.
ratio of length to height = l:h = 2:1 = 6:3
ratio of breadth to height = b:h = 4:3 = 4:3
let us take a common factor x for length, breadth and height; hence length is 6x, breadth is 4x and height is 3x
hence volume (6x)(4x)(3x) = 72x3 = 576 cu.m
or x3 = 8 or x =2
hence length = 12 m, breadth = 8 m and height = 6 m
