Let us analyze each statement with respect to given binding energy graph and check whether it is true or false
 
 
when two nuclei of mass numbers n1 and n2 are getting fused, mass number of fused nuclei (n1 + n2 )
 
total binding energy before fusion = ( n1 + n2 )2 energy units
 
n1 < 50 , n2 < 50  , hence ( n1 + n2 ) < 100
 
From binding energy graph, it can be seen that before fusion and after fusion, net energy remains (n1 + n2 ) 2 energy units
 
Hence no release of energy and statement (1) is false.
