Let h is the vertical distance between floor of the lift and the point where the coin is dropped.
When the lift is stationary and time taken by the coin to reach the floor of lift is t1 , then time t1 is given by

where g is acceleration due to gravity.
When the lift is moving upward with constant acceleration a and time taken by the coin to reach the floor of lift is t2 ,
then time t2 is given by .
Exact ratio is calculated from the above relation by substituting the acceleration value .
