If either switch-A or switch-B is closed, then Base-to-Emitter junction of transistor is forward biased ,
Hence collector of the transistor is shorted to ground, we get 0 V as output
 
If both switches are open , there is no forward bias, hence collector to ground path is open,
we get +5V as output.
 
Hence the logic is , begin mathsize 14px style Y space equals space top enclose A space times space top enclose B end style
