Moseley's law for frequency ν of Kα line for an element of atomic number is given by,
 
√ν = a ( Z-1 ) ; hence  we have  λ2 is inversely proportional to (z-1)
 
If λ29 is wavelength of Kα line of atomic number z = 29 and λ43 is that of atomic number z = 43, then we have
 
( λ29 / λ43 ) = (42/28)2 = 9/4
 
Hence we get,  λ29 = (9/4)λ43
