When the system is at rest, upward thrust of liquid and downward force due to weight of floating solid
are proportional to g which is acceleration due to gravity.

when the sytem is accelerated upwards with acceleration g/3, upward thrust of liquid and downward force
due to weight of floating solid are proportional to (g+ g/3).

Since both upward thrust and weight are multipled by same factor (g + g/3 ) due to upward acceleration,
force balance is same as when the system is at rest.

Hence as when the system is at rest, only (1/2) of volume of solid  will be immersed inliquid
