Maximum magnitude of resultant :-  begin mathsize 14px style a with rightwards arrow on top space plus space b with rightwards arrow on top space equals space 3 x end style
Minimum magnitude of resultant :-  begin mathsize 14px style a with rightwards arrow on top space minus space b with rightwards arrow on top space equals space x end style
by solving above equations, we ge,   begin mathsize 14px style a with rightwards arrow on top space equals space 2 stack space b with rightwards arrow on top end style
