NEET Class neet Answered
In an experiment, measured quantities are a, b, c and then x is calculated from x= (ab^2)/c^3. If the percentage change in a, b, c are 1% increase, 3% decrease and 2% increase respectively, then the percentage change in value of x is:- (1) 1% increase, (2) 13% increase, (3) 11% decrease, (4) 13% decrease

Expert Answer
Error of a measured quantity which is product or quotient :- if Z = A×B or Z= A/B , then (ΔZ/Z) = (ΔA/A) + (ΔB/B)
Error of a measured quantity which is raised to power :- if Z = Ak , then (ΔZ/Z) = k (ΔA/A)
if we combine the above rules, for x = ab2 /c3 , we have ( Δx/x ) = (Δa/a ) + 2(Δb/b) + 3 (Δc/c)
for error analysis, we should always take +ve values i.e. magnitude of error of each quantity.
Hence (Δx/x) = 1% + 2×3% + 3×2% = 13%
