How is the buoyant force of water affected by its salinity?

Asked by Vasudha Balaji 14th October 2013, 11:03 AM
Answered by Expert
Answer:

Sea water contains minerals dissolved in it, so its density is more than fresh water.

Thus, the weight of water displaced in sea is more than the weight required to displace the same amount of water in fresh water source.

Thus, buoyant force of water increases when its salinity increases.
