How does the magnitude of a non contact force like gravity acting on two bodies depend on the distance of separation between them?

Gravitational force is directly proportional to the product of masses of the two interacting bodies and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the two.Hence, we can say that the magnitude of force is inversely proportional to the square of the distance of separation.
