Find the dimensions of the rectangle of area 96 cm square whose perimeter is the least

If l is length of rectangle , then its breadth is 96/l because area of rectangle is 96 sq.cm.
 
Perimeter P = 2( l + (96/l) ]  ..................(1)
 
if we differentiate eqn.(1) with respect to l, we get,  ( dP/dl )  = 2 - (192/ l2 )  .......................(3)
 
to get maximum, we equate eqn.(3) to zero and we get the value of l for maximum P.
 
Hence  2 - (192/ l2 ) = 0  or l = begin mathsize 12px style square root of 96 end style
Hence dimensions of rectangle to get maximum perimeter are l = begin mathsize 12px style square root of 96 end style and b = begin mathsize 12px style square root of 96 end style
