Expert Answer
Procedure:
(1) Take three test tubes. Fill each test tube with water and place them in the test tube stand.
(2) Add a few drops of alcohol in the first test tube, a few drops of kerosene oil in 2nd test tube and a few drops of vinegar in the 3rd test tube.
(3) Shake each test tube vigorously and wait for 10 minutes.
(4) You will notice that kerosene oil floats on the surface of water to form a separate layer.
(5) No separate layer is formed in case of vinegar and alcohol.
(6) This activity proves that vinegar and alcohol are soluble in water while kerosene is insoluble in water.
