( Vectors are typed as bold letters, i and j are unit vectors along x any y axis )
Let A = i and B = p i + q j .
Since B is a unit vector, we have p2 + q2 = 1 ......................(1)
if we choose p = 1/2 , then q = √3/2
Since A+B+C+D = 0, let us choose C = - i and D = -(1/2) i - (√3/2) j
Then A·B + B·C + C·D = (1/2) - (1/2) + (1/2) = (1/2) ........................(2)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Result of eqn.(2) depends the choice of p and q we made for eqn.(1)
I suspect the question sholud ask the result of A·B + B·C + C·D+D·A
and this will be zero, independent of choice we made for p and q
