does ch3oh have more surface tension than c2h5oh since the surface tension of hydrocarbons is low and since the number of c atoms in c2h5oh is more ? kindly explain in detail if my theory is wrong .

Reason behind surface tension is bonding in the moilecules not chemical formulae or number of molecules.
The hydrogen bonds in methanol are stronger than in ethanol whereas in ethanol, dispersion forces dominate over hydrogen bonds. That's why we can say methanol is having higher surface tension than ethanol.
