In a country, the economic growth depends on the many factors such as size of the population of a country, co-operation from other countries, economic policies adopted by the country etc. When we compare the economic growth of a democractic and a non-democractic country, it is debatable however the biggest drawback of democracy is that it lags behind dictatorships in economic growth as dictatorships have slightly higher rate of economic growth.
However the contribution of democracy towards economic growth and development has also proven to be useful as democracy consists of various stable and predictable institutions and tends to implement those policies which are beneficial and also democracy is accountable to the public rather than to privileged making it work towards the growth and development of the country and its people.
