A number is as much greater than 21 as is less than 71. Find the number

Expert Answer
Number is in between 21 and 71 and then difference between the number and 21 is same
as the difference between 71 and the number. Hence the number is exactly at middle and average of 21 and 71.
Hence the number is 46.
If solution to this problem is required by solving algebric equation, then the procedure is as follows.
Let the number be x.
then we have, x-21 = 71-x or 2x =92 or x = 46
