A nail is driven into a wooden board by using a hammer. the impact of hammer on the head of the nail reduces the thrust of 25N. If the area of head is 0.5mm square and the tip is 0.1mm square.Find the pressure of head and tip.

Area of head is A1 = 0.5 mm2 = 0.5 × 10-6 m2.
Area of tip is A2 = 0.1 mm2 = 0.1 × 10-6 m2.
 
Pressure is P =F/A
 
Thus, pressure of head is
 
Similarly, pressure on tip is
