A certain couple got only four daughters in a row and no son. Does it mean that the husband does not produce y bearing sperms ?? Explain...

  • Even if a couple has got four daughters in a row and no son, this does not mean that the husband does not produce y bearing sperms.
  • It is essential that the y bearing sperm fertilises the egg to produce a son.
  • When a sperm containing Y chromosome fertilizes the egg, the zygote would have one X chromosome and one Y chromosome (XY), and develop into a male child.
  • And this is a chance event and cannot be controlled.
