List of chapters in Macroeconomics

Chapter 1 – Introduction to Macroeconomics

This chapter focuses on the nation’s total manufacturing and the employment associated with each sector. The variables which contribute towards the overall growth of the economy in Macroeconomics are cost price, wage rate, rate of interest, profit etc.

Chapter 2 – National Income Accounting

In this chapter, the basic concepts in Macroeconomics are covered such as circular flow of income in a two-sector economy, methods for national income accounting, macroeconomic aggregates, real and nominal GDP and the relationship between GDP and welfare.

Chapter 3 – Money and Banking

This chapter covers topics related to the meaning of money, the supply of money, the role of commercial banks in money creation, the central bank and its functions (with reference to RBI) and the methods of credit control by RBI (quantitative and qualitative).

Chapter 4 – Income Determination

This chapter covers a vast number of topics such as aggregate demand and supply and its components, the propensity to consume and save, investment multiplier, determination of income and employment, AD-AS and savings–investment approach, the concept of excess demand and deficient demand and the measures to correct them.

Chapter 5 – The Government Budget and the Economy

This chapter covers the meaning, components and objectives of the Government budget as well as the classification of receipts and expenditure.

Chapter 6 – Open Economy Macroeconomics

In this chapter, you will get a clear understanding of the concept of exchange rate and its determination and the different exchange rate systems. You will also understand appreciation and depreciation, its impact on exports and imports, the concept of balance of payments and its components—current and capital accounts, and the concept of budget deficit and its types.
