World Energy production refers to the total amount of enegy that was produced from all resources in a given year. It is different from world's total energy consumption as a considerable amount of energy produced is lost in the form of energy loss.  For example, in 2008, total world energy supply was 143,851 TWh, while total consumed was 98,022 TWh.
