Diesel produces extremely suffocating and corrosive sulphur dioxide gas. Petrol produces oxides of nitrogen. Oxides of nitrogen and sulphur dissolve in rain water and form acids. Such rain is acid rain. It is harmful for building, crops and soil hence their as fuels in automobiles is being replaced by CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), because CNG produces the harmful products in very small amounts.
