CBSE Class 10 Answered
Why is the speed of light of different colours the same in air but different in another medium?

Speed of light changes due to refraction . When light ray passes from air to glass , refraction is takine place inside glass.
Refractive index μ = c / v
where c is velocity of light in air and v is velocity of light in another medium like glass .
Frequency n doexs not change due to refraction of light , but wavelength λ charges due to refraction
Refractive index μ = c / ( n λ )
Hence refractive index μ is inversely proportional to wavelength .
Hence short wavelength light , i.e. violet colour has high refractive index.
Long wavelength light , i.e. red colour has low refractive index .
