Solar furnaces use parabolic mirrors, which are highly curved and concave in shape. This is because the rays of Sun must be directed at the material that needs to be heated. These mirrors focus all of the rays on a central point, resulting in a high temperature.
These mirrors also have large surface areas, allowing them to capture a large number of light rays.
