Why is it mandatory for musicians to wear ear protectors during a concert?

It's because the sound produced have more intensity which is harmful for ears and can cause damage.
Human ear can tolerate the sound of intensity up to 85 dB. Sound above this intensity is harmful.
Thus, to avoid such damage to ears it is mandatory for musicians to wear ear protectors.
