Expert Answer
- The transfer of pollen grains from anther of flower to the stigma of the same flowr or another flower on the sameplant is called self pollination. Self pollination takes place in bisexual, monoecious plants. These plants have both male and female reproductive parts on the same plant. The anther and stigma of a bisexual flower mature at the same time. Example: Wheat, tobaccco, pea.
- The transfer of pollen grains from the anther of flower on one plant to the stigma of flower on another plant of same species is called cross pollination. Cross pollination occurs in unisexual flowers. Unisexual flowers have either male or female flowers borne on separateplant. Example: - Hibiscus, china rose, brinjal, tomato, lady finger.
