Heavy trucks have broad tyres because broad tyres have large area of contact and less pressure on the ground. 

Because of this, heavy trucks can move even on soft roads and fields without sinking.

Reaction force from ground equal to the weight of the truck acting on the tyres. Hence to withstand this reaction force,

we need huge tyres for heavy trucks
