Why carbon does not react with metals?

Expert Answer
Due to its very unique covalent property of the carbon there are large number of the carbon compounds that exist but carbon generally preferred not to have bond with metals because we know that covalent bond is always formed between non metal to non metal and if any bond is formed between metal to non metal than it will be ionic bond and as said earlier carbon has tendency to form covalent not ionic bond.
