Why are solids rigid?Can you change the shape of a solid by applying force?Give reasons

Solids possesses a fixed volume and a definite shape, distinct boundaries and a definite mass.
They are rigid and almost incompressible. Hence they are called solid rigids.
By applying force, we can break solids but it is difficult to change their shape.
