Why are multiples projects facing resistance? Give any two reasons

Multiple large dam projects are facing resistance due to the following reasons:
· Building large dams require vast swathes of land. In order to build dams, large forests need to be cut and forest dwellers and tribals gets displaced from their original lands. They lose their lands and source of livelihood.
· Large dams also affect natural flow of rivers. This results in hampering the flow of sediments. Excessive accumulation of sediments in the reservoirs causes damage to marine life.
