when an object is immersed the upward force exerted by the water on the object is greater than it's weight . As we know the wieght of an object is the force due to gravitational attraction of the earth so canwe say in the above case that the gravitational force is less as compared to the upthrust .

Yes. We can say that gravitational force is less than upthrust.
Gravity is a weak force. When we hold a pencil on our finger, it does not fall indicating that we have overcome gravity.
Hence, we can say that, upthrust is greater than gravitational force.
