Current in the circuit, I = 2E / ( r1 + r2 + R ) ...................(1)
if potential differece across first cell is zero, then we have E - ( I×r1 ) = 0 ............(2)
by substituting I from eqn.(1), eqn.(2) is written as , E - [ (2E×r1) / ( r1 + r2 + R ) ] = 0 ................(3)
from eqn.(3), we get R = r1 - r2
